GATHERING

Welcome Statement
Pastor Suzy Todd

Dearborn First UMC strives to foster a climate of purposeful inclusion of all people. We value the diversity of racial and cultural identity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious background, family structure, age, mental and physical health and ability, and educational and class status. When we reflect the fullness of God’s creation, we reflect the Kin-dom of God.

*Call to Worship
Mary Gladstone-Highland

God, your justice brings low the mighty and uplifts the lowly

Help us strive to create a world of justice for all.

God, you call us to be peacemakers - not peacekeepers - in all things, large and small.

Help us to create peace through acts of mercy and love.

God, you demand justice for the poor and deliverance from their needs.

Help us work steadfastly for political systems that care for the least among us.

God, give us the courage to speak truth to power.

Help us to demand just systems and laws from those who represent us.

 Amen.

*CONFESSION & PARDON

Pastor Suzy Todd

O God, Our Sustainer
search our hearts and reveal to us our sinfulness,
all the ways that we contribute to injustice
and to self-destroying bondage.
Give us deep courage to find the true path of your way,

God is just and forgiving.
God receives us as we are,
lifts us up and calls us again to
be people upholding justice and peace.
Receive God’s pardon and peace,
knowing that all sins are forgiven

Thanks be to God!

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
