GATHERING

Welcome Statement
Pastor Suzy Todd

Welcome to Dearborn First United Methodist Church. We believe that all people are made in God's image and are loved by God. We believe that the church should act as Christ acted, opposing all oppression, persecution and ostracism. Therefore, we welcome, empower and celebrate people of all racial and ethnic backgrounds; all sexual orientations and gender identities; all socio-economic and immigration statuses; all abilities and ages. We embrace the full diversity of God’s glorious creation because we believe that is the only way to live into the kin-dom to come.

We seek God

There is revelation in every experience of love.

We seek knowledge

There is revelation where science uncovers the Logos

We seek wisdom

There is revelation in the voices preserved through scripture

We seek community

There is revelation when we join the traditions of our ancestors

*CONFESSION & PARDON
Pastor Suzy Todd

Gracious God,
We believe that you offer to us and our world a whole and good life.
Forgive us for when we fail to embrace this life with the fullness of our being.
Forgive us for the times we do not love you with all of our strength.
Forgive us when we deny the role of our intellect in relationship with you.
For all that we have done to deny each other and ourselves the fullness of life - body, mind and soul -  we ask your forgiveness and your mercy.

Siblings in Christ,
As you choose again this day to love God with the fullness of being, mind and strength
know that God has forgiven you and offers to you a new and full life.
Praise be to  God, now forever. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
